Product description

In cooperation with CSA International, Valor Heating Ltd. of Birmingham, United Kingdom announce the recall of 2320 Model 837AN and 837AP Natural Gas and Propane Gas Direct Vent Wall Furnaces.

A design defect has been found, which may allow main burner gas to prematurely enter the firebox during lighting. This could cause a delayed ignition, which may result in injury to the operator.

Valor has received one report of injury resulting from glass breakage.

The 837AN and 837AP Direct Vent Wall Furnaces have a glass front and simulated wooden log set and are intended to provide heat and a wood burning flame effect. They were sold throughout Canada through specialty fireplace retail dealers from June 1997 until January 2002. They can be identified by the model number shown on the rating plate located in the lower control area.

Consumers should immediately stop using the wall furnace and shut off the gas supply. Consumers should contact the fireplace retailer where the fireplace was purchased to arrange for a service visit to repair the unit. There will be no charge for this visit. If consumers are unable to contact the original fireplace retailer, they should contact Miles Industries at (866) 866-4537 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. PT Monday through Friday to arrange for a service visit to repair the unit. For more information, consumers can log on to the Miles Industries Web site at www.valorflame.com .
