UPDATE:The Federal ecoEnergy Rebate program has been cancelled, as of March 31, 2010. There should be a revised Ontario Home Energy Savings Guide released soon. There has been no mention of cancelling the Provincial rebate program.

The Cool Savings Rebate program will encourage Ontario residents to reduce their electrical energy costs and help reduce the load on Ontario's electricity grid by providing rebates and coupons. Homeowners who have eligible equipment installed by a registered, participating contractor between December 31, 2009 and December 31, 2010, may qualify for the incentive.

What is the Cool Savings Rebate Program?

The Cool Savings Rebate program encourages Ontario residents to install energy efficient heating and cooling systems, when replacing their existing systems by providing the following rebate offers;

*Get a $25 rebate to homeowners who have a programmable thermostat installed by a participating contractor;

*Get a $125 rebate to homeowners who purchase a replacement mid or high efficiency furnace equipped with an Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM) (NOTE: this also includes all gas, propane, oil and electric furnaces, as well as air handlers included on the ECM Eligibility List);

*Get a $250 rebate when you have an existing central air conditioner (CAC) replaced with the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR qualified CAC system, heat pump or ductless split system (NOTE: ENERGY STAR qualified criteria = minimum 14.5 SEER and 12 EER ).

*Get a $400 rebate when you have an existing CAC replaced with the purchase and installation of a stand-alone CEE "Tier 2" level central air conditioning system or ground source heat pump. (NOTE: "Tier 2" criteria = minimum 15 SEER and 12.5 EER);
