Am I misreading this?  Clause 4.1.4 seems like a contradiction to me.

Quote4.1.4 Where a conflict exists between the manufacturer's certified installation instructions and this Code, the most stringent of the two shall prevail unless otherwise approved. This does not apply to clauses of this Code that permit a less stringent requirement.

Both sentences seem to contradict each other.  The first sentence sais if there is a conflict, to use the most stringent requirement, but the second sentence sais this does not apply to clauses in the code that are less stringent?!?

I'll wait for TSSA to interpret this one!

It seems TSSA agrees, the last change to Clause 4.1.4 was a contradiction.

Clause 4.1.4 used to be,
Quote4.1.4 Where a conflict exists between the manufacturer's certified installation instructions and this Code, the most stringent of the two shall prevail unless otherwise approved. This does not apply to clauses of this Code that permit a less stringent requirement.

Now Clause 4.1.4 makes sense,
Quote4.1.4 Where a conflict exists between the manufacturer's certified installation instructions and this Code, the most stringent of the two shall prevail.

QuoteThe Director of Ontario Regulation 212/01 (Gaseous Fuels) pursuant of section 6 of Ontario Regulation 223/01 (Codes and Standards Adopted by Reference) hereby provides notice that the Gaseous Fuels Code Adoption Document published by the Technical Standards & Safety Authority, dated June 1, 2001, as amended, is further amended as follows:

4.1.4 Where a conflict exists between the manufacturer's certified installation instructions and this Code, the most stringent of the two shall prevail.

2. Section 1.30 is revoked and the following substituted for it:
