Looking for some unbiased insight. HVAC company came out, gathered some readings and said the pressure was high in my compressor and likely had faulty valves. 1.5 ton system. Price to replace condenser 5500.
AC works but won't cool to less than 77 and will run all day. Cleaned condenser and changed filter in furnace.
Here are his reading. Any help would be appreciated

Is it $5500 for a new compressor or a whole new condensing unit?  Is the compressor past the 10 year part warranty?

It could be compressor.  5.5k for compressor replacement for a 1.5ton split system is kinda steep. Though I might not have all the information.

Wow stuff must be expensive in Canada. You could buy a brand new 1.5 ton ductless system for a lot less than 5500 dollars. In Taiwan those are around 800 dollars.

If that isn't an understatement, I don't know what is.

While stuff is expensive here, a compressor with even expensive labor is nowhere near that for almost all residential systems. That's priced like that because they don't know what's wrong and do not want the customer to opt for a repair so they price high to make the customer replace instead.

The system is most likely a scroll compressor judging from the pressures shown. It doesn't even have valves. That was the reciprocating compressors for the r22 units. Scroll compressors use two scrolls for compression.
