What is the preferred method to identify multiple meters in a building? Can you make your own tag or do you need a specific tag from Enbridge?

Quote6.17.4 - Every piping or tubing system that enters a building that has two or more gas meters shall be permanently identified with the room number, apartment number, or the area of the building it serves.

Some inspectors want us to use a brass tag that is stamped with the required information.  I have had an inspector tell me they don't want a metal tag used with a black marker as the marker can fade.  This is very much open to interpretation.  I was actually going to call you to see if you sold such a tag and this stamp kit to embosse the tag.  Apparently plumbers use this to tag their valves.

Yes, we sell the brass tags. They are numbered 1-100 but we do not sell anything to scribe them with.

Brass dog tag style would be best. The Sharpie does fade fairly quickly..

Ultimatly something that is permanent.

Having done plenty of metal tags for fireplace valves outside, I can vouch that black marker on a piece of tin goes completely invisible within a year or two.
