Hi

I have a Lifebreath RNC6-ES that came with my new home, I noticed that the HRV doesn't appear to be interlocked with the furnace fan (i can turn on the unit and turn off my fan on my ecobee and it works). Based on Lifebreath manual it mentions it should be interlocked. What are the consequences if they're not interlocked?

My other question is in regards to balancing, how important is the balancing of the HRV and if I complete my basement do i need to rebalance?

Thanks.

The Ecobee should start the indoor fan when it runs the HRV so no interlock wire would be required.

I doubt renovations would affect the existing balancing of the HRV, if it's a simplified installation, but it would only take 5 minutes to rebalance.

Hi @Admin

I should mention the Ecobee is just for the furnace, we have a separate control (BC03) for the HRV. The HRV is not connected to the Ecobee.

Oh gotcha.  You could run 18/3 wire between the HRV and furnace and interlock it.

Is your Ecobee wired with a PEK adapter?

I'm not sure if it is, how would I check?

So it is recommended to have the hrv interlocked? Any problems with it currently not being interlocked (new bungalow in quebec, 3 years old)?

I'm not sure if the unit was originally balanced, i'm assuming it was. When we completed the basement we created 5 new rooms with supplies and returns, I was wondering if this would impact the initial balance as the hvac system has expanded.

Without the indoor fan running with the HRV it won't circulate the fresh air to the house as well.

Being a newer house it's unlikely you have the PEK adapter installed, but you would find it connected to the furnace low voltage terminals.
